Retired WHH colleague

I trained as a nurse in 1982 and retired in October 2020 wonderful years! The NHS is precious to me, it is a family affair, my mum worked as a nurse as have 2 of my sisters. In addition, my husband and I met as staff nurses on a ward, 35 years ago.

Having worked in many hospitals, my last role was as Head of Patient Experience at Warrington and Halton hospitals. What a fabulous privilege to be part of initiatives which ensured our patients and service users received the best care, that they deserve and with dignity and respect.

Involving all staff, service users and families in achieving these changes to improve patient experience in so many areas , such as paediatrics, maternity, outpatient and inpatient wards has just been fantastic and awe inspiring. The NHS at its best, enhancing quality of care for everyone and making sure everyone is included in decision making.

I am proud to have been part of this wonderful hospital trust, the legacy of work I was part of has, I know, made a huge difference to our patients, and it continues to be developed and progressed by other committed, enthusiastic NHS workers.

Happy 75th birthday to our very precious, seriously valued NHS.
