  • We provide urgent treatment for serious and life threatening conditions for patients from across Warrington, Runcorn and Widnes.

  • The Acute Respiratory Infection Virtual Ward is for Warrington and Halton Hospitals patients with an acute respiratory infection (list of conditions under 'What is a Virtual Ward?'), who in discussion with clinical staff are being cared for in the comfort of their own home.

  • At Warrington Hospital and in Warrington community, we provide assessment, therapy, support and advice for people who have acquired difficulties with communication and/or swallowing.

  • We provide anaesthetic services across our hospital sites. Anaesthesia literally means ‘loss of sensation’. Medications that cause anaesthesia are called anaesthetics.

  • Our bereavement service offers one-to-one support for relatives and those close to patients who have died in the hospital. The service offers practical advice and support about what needs to be done during this difficult time.

  • We provide a first class breast surgery service at Warrington and Halton Hospitals. This is mainly based at Halton General Hospital, although some complex surgery work takes place at Warrington Hospital.

  • Angiography is a test that uses an injection of contrast (X-ray ‘dye’) to visualise the coronary arteries of the heart using X-rays. The test shows if the arteries have narrowed and helps decide what management the patient requires in the future.

  • The Cardio Respiratory Department consists of a dedicated team of cardiac physiologists, associate practitioners and assistant technical officers that provide a wide variety of cardiac investigations to inpatients, outpatients and GP open access referrals.

  • We provide an extensive cardiology service with a full cardio-respiratory department, cardiac catheter laboratory and the Acute Cardiac Care Unit at Warrington Hospital.
    We also provide outpatient services, ECG and a cardiac rehabilitation service at Halton General Hospital.
