COVID-19 Coronavirus - for women using our maternity services

We would like to provide you with as much information as possible in relation to COVID-19 if you are pregnant, having your baby, or have recently had a baby with our maternity service. A helpline has been set up for any enquiries regarding COVID-19 and your maternity care. This number is: 01925 662323 it will be manned between 10 am to 4pm Monday to Friday.

Outside of these times call our Triage on: 01925 275200 or if you have any concerns about your pregnancy.

We are continually reviewing our community midwifery services in case of GP closure. We are currently not aware of any Warrington GP practices or Children’s Centre closures but we will update you accordingly via the maternity website if the situation changes.

If you have any concerns about appointment availability or you have a dry cough or a temperature please call the helpline and we can advise you on how to manage your symptoms and ensure that your care is coordinated safely.

In view of potential exposure and transfer of COVID 19 we have taken a decision to suspend the following services:

  • 36 week birth choice appointments with community midwives
  • Parent Education
  • Hypnobirthing sessions
  • Routine Consultant Midwife appointments

In relation to care in the postnatal period, we will continue to provide home visits on the first day following discharge and then on day 5 and day 10.

Further visits may be arranged depending on individual care plans. If you are currently isolating at home we will provide telephone consultation with a midwife and follow up will be arranged depending on individual needs preferably after the period of isolation.

Please be reassured that we will provide care that is essential to mothers and babies throughout this challenging situation. We are restricting visiting to birth partners/companions only.

Visiting times will remain unrestricted.

These interim measures have been put in place to help to protect the safety of mothers and babies by reducing the chance of the spread of COVID 19. Do not hesitate to call us on our helpline if you are worried or have any questions.
