Clinic days and locations: Elective clinics: Monday and Friday mornings at the Captain Sir Tom Moore Building, Halton Hospital. Fracture clinic: Tuesday afternoon at Warrington Hospital

Mr Atkinson was appointed as a consultant in 2007, having trained in the Mersey region and gained fellowship experience in joint replacement surgery in Coventry and Bournemouth.

He has an interest in surgical education and in addition to the roles above, is the lead educational supervisor for the department and teaches on the regional hip and knee surgery modules. He regularly interviews as part of the national appointment process for orthopaedic trainees and organises the local orthopaedic teaching. He also helps deliver the medical student case-based learning modules and has written teaching material for the University of Liverpool. He also helps coordinate the orthopaedic work experience program for school pupils considering a career in medicine.

Mr Atkinson’s interests away from work include cycling, playing the piano and spending time with his family.
