Dr Baluwala graduated from University of Science and Technology Chittagong in 2004. He undertook his Medical and Speciality training in various hospitals in West Yorkshire and the Cheshire and Merseyside region. He completed his specialty training is Respiratory Medicine and General Medicine from Yorkshire and Humber Deanery.

During his specialty training he undertook research in Sleep Disordered Breathing and Driving in Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. 

His areas of interest in Respiratory Medicine include Sleep Disordered breathing, Non-Invasive Ventilation, Lung Cancer and EBUS (Endobronchial Ultrasound).

Dr Baluwala has keen interest in Medical Education. His additional roles include Royal College Tutor for Medicine for the Trust, Medical International Workforce Lead and Undergraduate Clinical Placement Lead for Respiratory.

Dr Baluwala has published case reports and posters for various National and International societies including British Thoracic Society and European Respiratory Society. Dr Baluwala is a member of British Thoracic Society, European Respiratory Society and British Sleep Society.
