Ms Gossedge studied medicine at the University of Liverpool, graduating in 2003. She completed her postgraduate higher surgical training in the Northwest Mersey Deanery. She gained her Certificate of Completion of Surgical Training (CCT) in 2016 and undertook post CCT fellowship in laparoscopic surgery and advanced and recurrent colorectal cancer at Newcastle Teaching Hospitals.
During her training, she undertook and 2-year research fellowship in colorectal cancer at Leeds University teaching hospitals, which involved a clinical trial on the intra-operative staging of colorectal cancer. She has published multiple peer reviewed publications, two book chapters, and presented her works both nationally and internationally. She was awarded the University of Leeds Postgraduate Researcher of the year award and obtained a Cancer Research UK Grant.
Ms Gossedge was appointed as a consultant surgeon at Warrington and Halton Hospitals in 2017. She is passionate about the operative management of colorectal cancer, and the management of patients undergoing emergency laparotomies. She was the national emergency laparotomy lead (NELA) for surgery from 2017-2020. She has also been the principal investigator for many surgical trials to improve clinical care through research and audit. She has received certificates of excellence in medical education from the Northwest School of Surgery and is a JAG accredited endoscopist.
