Dr Furniss completed his undergraduate training at Liverpool University followed by a Master’s Degree in Medical Microbiology from the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine.  Following Foundation Training here at Warrington Hospital, he completed speciality training in anaesthesia in the Mersey Region before returning to Warrington to take up his consultant post.

Dr Furniss is the Principal Investigator for several research trials on the intensive care unit.  He is also heavily involved in both undergraduate medical education, and postgraduate education in anaesthesia and critical care. 

Within anaesthesia his specialist interests include anaesthesia for Paediatrics and ENT surgery.
