Information for event organisers/trainers

All visitors to the Centre must sign in on arrival using the book on the Reception counter and then sign out on leaving the building

Fire Exits: All fire exits are clearly signposted and can be located as follows:

  • Main Entrance Door (Exit for Lecture Theatre/ Foyer area) o Base of stairs at rear end of building (Exit for first floor rooms)
  • Base of stairs at front end of building (Exit for Admin offices) o Seminar Room o Lecture Theatre Annexe
  • Library (Exit for Library and Interview Rooms) o Conference Room

Fire Alarm: Fire Alarm testing is carried out weekly - Prior warning will be given

ON HEARING THE FIRE ALARM

  1. Evacuate the building using the nearest safe exit.
  2. Report to assembly point (No 2. Estates Workshop Car Park)
  3. Do not re-enter until authorised to do so.

ACTION ON DISCOVERING OR SUSPECTING A FIRE (No matter how small)

  1. Operate the nearest fire alarm call point.
  2. Tackle the fire if this is safe and you have been trained to do so.
  3. Evacuate using the nearest safe exit.
  4. Report to assembly point (No2. Estates Workshop Car Park)
  5. Inform the switchboard - dial x2222.

It is the responsibility of the organiser/ trainer to ensure all group participants have signed a Register, which should be used for a roll-call on evacuation of the building.

​Fire Extinguishers: situated as follows:

  • Main Entrance Door  - Carbon Dioxide & Foam
  • Door at Front of Centre - Foam
  • Seminar Room - Foam
  • Lecture Theatre Annexe - Carbon Dioxide & Foam
  • Main Foyer Area - Carbon Dioxide & Foam
  • Library - Foam
  • Conference Room - Carbon Dioxide
  • Landing by 1st floor lift - Carbon Dioxide & Foam

Male, female and disabled toilets are located on the ground floor (from the main entrance turn right into the foyer and they are on the right hand side).

(Not to be used in the event of a fire) The lift to the first floor is located on the right hand side of the foyer area when walking from the reception counter (opposite side to Lecture Theatre Annexe entrance).  If any visitors on the first floor who require lift access have concerns about being able to use the stairs in the event of a fire, could the event organiser please inform Reception as we may be able to rearrange room bookings to provide a room downstairs.

There is a pay phone and a free taxi phone in the main hospital (near the car park machine by entrance two); there is a telephone for internal calls in the Library.

There will be a member of staff available from 8am to 4:30pm for assistance.  Please call Ext 3318 to contact Reception.

Can be provided for a small charge; details available from Reception; Departments may be recharged if a budget code is provided.

There are First Aiders based within the Centre, so if required, please ask at Reception.  Minor injuries should attend the Minor Injuries Department within the Main Hospital – for more serious accidents/ incidents, an ambulance should be called. 

Please ensure that you inform Reception of any incidents, so these can be logged and any appropriate actions taken.

Please ensure that all furniture is returned to its original position at the end of the meeting.  All equipment should be switched off.  If windows have been opened please ensure that they are closed on leaving the room.

Not allowed on Trust premises in accordance with Trust Policy and Legislation. A copy of the policy can be requested from Reception.
