20th anniversary of Baby Loss Awareness Week

The week takes place 9th - 15th October, with the Wave of Light Service of Remembrance on Saturday 15th.

The Butterfly Team and Chaplaincy Team at Warrington Hospital will be hosting a Wave of Light Service of Remembrance to raise awareness of pregnancy and baby loss during the 20th Baby Loss Awareness Week (9th to 15th October).

This the first church service to be held in two years due to the Covid pandemic and aims to bring bereaved parents, families, and friends together to commemorate babies’ lives and break the silence around pregnancy and baby loss in the UK.

The Wave of Light Service of Remembrance will take place on Saturday 15th October 18.30 – 19.30 at St Elphin’s Church, Church Street, Warrington. WA1 2TL. There is also an opportunity for those not attending the service to join the global ‘Wave of Light’ at 7pm, where everyone can light a candle and leave it burning for at least an hour and join in remembering all babies who died too soon.

Bereavement Support Co-ordinator Debbie Yates said: “We hope that the Wave of Light Service of Remembrance will bring the community together and provide a safe space for local bereaved parents and families touched by pregnancy and baby loss to talk about their precious babies and feel less isolated and supported in their grief.”
