Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Department


General introduction

The Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Department provides treatment for both inpatient and outpatients and emergency clinics for symptoms affecting the ear, nose or throat.

The department treats a range of conditions, including:

  • hearing disorders (both surgical and non-surgical treatments)
  • acute and chronic ear infections
  • balance disorders
  • rhinitis
  • sinusitis
  • tear duct problems
  • nasal trauma
  • external and internal deformity
  • throat and head and neck infections
  • salivary gland diseases
  • swallowing problems
  • voice problems
  • skin cancer
  • neck lumps

Patients are entitled to detailed hearing and ear function assessments within our Audiology Service.

How to access this service

When your GP refers you to the ENT Department you will be asked to book a time on the 'choose and book' system.

We offer a variety of clinics throughout the week. 

Clinics we provide are: 

  • tongue-tie clinic - see your health visitor, midwife or GP if you're concerned about your baby's feeding and think they they may have tongue-tie
  • neck lump clinic - referral from GP
  • casualty clinic - referral from GP, Emergency Department (A&E), walk in centre and urgent care
  • microsuction clinic - referral from GP, Emergency Department, walk in centre and urgent care
  • tracheostomy clinic - referral from GP, district nurse or Emergency Department 

When you come to clinic please bring your appointment card or letter with you as well as an up to date list of any medication you are taking.

About the team

The department consists of consultants, associate and staff grade doctors, trainee doctors and specialist nurse.
