How to access this service

The ward accepts direct admissions from the Emergency Department or internal transfers from other wards and other hospitals.

Ward B14 works closely with the Stroke Unit at Whiston Hospital which receives all patients, including current inpatients in the 'hyper acute' phase of stroke (the initial 72 hours).

Both male and female patients are admitted to the unit into the appropriate bays and cubicles.

Once patients are assessed by the team at Whiston Hospital as being medically stable for transfer, they are repatriated (transferred) back to us at Warrington Hospital to continue with their stroke care and subsequent rehabilitation.

About the team

The ward team consists of nursing staff and dedicated ward-based physiotherapy and occupational therapy teams.
