The unit is staffed by acute medicine consultants with backgrounds in a variety of medical fields including respiratory medicine, renal medicine, endocrinology, cardiology and general internal medicine consultants.
In addition to doctors, the team also includes nurses, a ward manager and nursing matrons plus advanced clinical practitioners (ACPs) and trainee ACPs. Advanced clinical practitioners often have several years of experience within the NHS as nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and midwives within the clinical speciality.
