Bladder and Bowel Care Service (Adults) – Warrington
General introduction
Bladder and bowel problems can affect men and women at any age or stage of life and are more common than many people realise. With the right support, most people can achieve a much better quality of life.
We are a nurse‑led service specialising in continence care and supporting patients and carers to manage bladder and bowel issues through lifestyle management and personalised treatment plans.
Our aim is to improve quality of life, dignity and independence with ongoing support from assessment through to regular care reviews.
We provide a range of treatments and support including:
- bladder retraining, offering guidance to help reduce urinary frequency
- pelvic floor muscle training for men and women to reduce bladder and bowel incontinence and support those with prolapse
- advice and support for chronic constipation
- support to reduce the frequency of chronic diarrhoea through lifestyle changes and medication
- bowel management for patients who may require bowel irrigation, including transanal irrigation assessment, teaching and support
- support for enuresis (bedwetting)
- intermittent self‑catheterisation (ISC), including an individualised plan for frequency of use and ongoing support
