As an NHS Foundation Trust, we have public and staff governors who are elected and help guide the hospitals and our future strategy, holding the hospitals to account to local people. They also sit on key committees in the hospitals, perform duties like carrying out unannounced ward visits and help us to engage with the local community at events and through surverys and focus groups.
Elections for public governors will commence on Wednesday 29th April in nine of our 16 public constituency areas. This is because previous terms of office of some of the governors comes to an end in June 2015. The areas with elections taking place are as follows:

Can anyone become a governor?
You need to be a member of the foundation trust, be over 16 years old and live in one of the areas that are up for election to stand, but membership is free and you can join at any time (you can do this online here) as long as your governor nomination form is returned by 18th May when nominations close.
If you live in one of these areas and want to stand but need to become a member, submit the membership form ASAP and please call us on 01925 664 222 or email us at email@example.com so we can quickly process your membership and get a self-nomination form to you from UK Engage in advance of the nominations closing on 18th May 2015.
What happens if I stand for election?
Ballot papers for elections will be issued to members in the above areas to vote on who they wish to be their public governor - unless an area is uncontested (i.e. just one member standing for election).
The ballot papers will be issued at the beginning of June 2015 and the results of the elections will be reported through the trusts website week commencing 29th June 2015.
If you are interested in becoming a public governor and would like to contact the trust in the first instance please contact the Governor and Membership Support Manager, Gayle Healey on 01925 664 222.
