Radio General Live on the web
2017 sees Radio General celebrating 60 years of providing a music service to the patients in Warrington Hospital. With the agreement of the Charity Commission, Radio General’s objects have been widened now to include broadcasting to the community Health and Wellbeing programming. By streaming our service on the internet, we are now able to reach a wider audience in Warrington & the surrounding areas.
The live stream will broadcast current shows playing in the hospital, and can be accessed through the Radio General website or the Tunein app. This will benefit the audience greatly, as patients allowed to return back home can still listen to the feel better station whilst finishing their recovery.
Our weekday Afternoon Mix programme broadcast at 12:00 pm carries our main Health & Wellbeing information stream which includes interviews with local charities, local sports clubs, hospital and health information. Weekends sees our Out & About team broadcasting from local events.
The Mayor of Warrington, Cllr Faisal Rashid will be joining Warrington and Halton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust’s chief executive, Mel Pickup to launch the internet service on the midday show.
Keith Inman, secretary said: “With the change in the health service provision and the new Health & Wellbeing object being available; along with the support of the Warrington & Halton Hospitals Trust we are able to embrace the use of the internet to secure the future of the station and expand our potential audience”.
